WINDSOR Saturday, August 6, 2011 Rock legend Gregg Allman has regretfully been required by doctors to cancel a number of late-summer concerts this year due to health reasons, including his August 26th headlining show at SS&C SummerWind Performing Arts Center in Windsor.  The concert will go on as scheduled with two world-renowned acts Bruce Hornsby & the Noisemakers and Bela Fleck and the Flecktones as the headliners.

Full refunds are available at Ticketmaster for fans who request them.  Gregg Allman's doctors expect him to recover from these health issues by early fall, and he has indicated he would like to play at SS&C SummerWind next year after his recovery, SummerWind officials said today.  SS&C SummerWind is the area's premiere open-air concert venue.

SS&C SummerWind has issued a letter to all ticket holders, informing them of this development and the option for a refund.  Those who purchased tickets either online or by phone from Ticketmaster and would like a refund are asked to please call the customer-service hotline at 1-800-653-8000 to obtain a refund.  Those who purchased tickets at an outlet, including The Bushnell box office, are asked to please return tickets in person at that outlet.

"This is certainly an unfortunate development, though we are still very pleased to offer an evening of world class entertainment on August 26th, with international recording stars Bruce Hornsby & the Noisemakers and Bela Fleck and the Flecktones headlining the show.  What's more, legendary former Allman Brothers drummer Jaimoe will open the show with Jaimoe and his Jassz Band.  It will still be a wonderful night of music under the stars for all who attend," Douglas Kerr, chairman of the SS&C SummerWind board, said today.  "We wish Mr. Allman a speedy recovery, and he has indicated he would like to headline a show at SS&C SummerWind next year."

SS&C SummerWind's 2011 concert season begins tonight with "American Idol" star Siobhan Magnus headlining a show with the Ultrasonic Rock Orchestra at 7:30 pm, and continues next Friday night (August 12th) with the legendary Steve Miller Band taking the stage at 7:30 pm.  The 2011 season also includes an evening of jazz on Saturday, August 13th at 7:30 pm, with the Del McCoury Band and the Preservation Hall Jazz Band, and concludes on Saturday, August 27th with A Night on Broadway with the Hartford Pops at 7:30 pm.  Tickets for all of these shows are available at www.sscsummerwind.org.
